Plucking Dazey’s led by Shane Keeling will introduce children (7-11years) and their adults to making together using plasticine.

Children and their adults will work together through the session to experiment, play and make with plasticine. Using creative making exercises, we will create a series of colourful, playful and unusual plasticine flowers. Through the session we will generate a boutique of all the flowers made together, flowers created will then be able to be taken home for display.

The course will inspire connections between art and material, whilst supporting important relationships to continue to grow through making together.

For families with children age 7-11 years, no previous experience necessary. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the full session. Please note a ticket includes admission for 1 adult and 1 child (between 7-11years).

The Artist

Shane Keeling is a multidisciplinary artist who specialises in the making and breaking of ceramic vessels. Keeling is currently a technical manager, educator, and maker at The Kiln Rooms, Peckham. He is the presenter of a kid’s art television show This Is Art Club! in his native Ireland. The focus of the show is to make art accessible for the young people of Ireland whilst educating them on the different materials, processes, and careers in the arts. 

Keeling is a member of the international collective ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, their aim is to bring the issue of men’s mental health into discussion within the creative industry. Keeling also runs a workshop entitled ‘BADBEASTS’ which is targeted at all-boys schools. ‘BADBEASTS’ explores the links between creativity and mental health, and aims to deconstruct the idealised version of masculinity instilled in young men by their peers.
