Influences in Drawing: Sound, Light & Shadow is a two-day drawing course led by artist Deanio X.

During this course, students will explore the human form through figurative drawing with a life model, while also exploring the influence of a range of visual, audio and sensory stimulus on their drawing processes.

The course will guide students through creating emotional atmosphere in their drawings through a range of techniques including drawing in response to music and sounds from various global regions and with different coloured light to create shadowscapes.

During the course, students will create multiple drawings responding to the life model and environment using media such as pencil, charcoal, chalk, pastels and inks.

 

This course is suitable for people with all levels of experience in artmaking. All materials costs are included. Size restrictions apply.

The Artist

Deanio X is a visual artist based in South East London, their work engages with varying disciplines to create visual stories that challenge false historical narratives and legacies of cultural erasure.

In addition to a dedicated studio practice, Deanio X creates public murals and installations with the intention to challenge, homage, lament and celebrate memories that have been omitted from collective consciousness. They are curious about the potential for new perspectives, language and ideas that are born from experimenting with materiality and form in visual art.

Deanio X is a graduate of the University of Kent and the Royal Drawing School’s postgraduate programme, The Drawing Year, and was the 2020-21 recipient of the Sir Denis Mahon Award.

Adults’ courses are 18+ unless otherwise stated.

Evidence of concessionary status must be shown on the first day of the course.

For every season, each person can only book and attend one of the courses on a ‘pay what you can’ ticket.

Booking on a course at Camden Art Centre signifies your agreement to our terms and conditions as stated in our Learning Agreement.

Bookings are non-refundable, unless the course is cancelled by the Centre.
The course will only go ahead if the minimum participant requirement for the course to run is met. If the course does not go ahead, bookings will be refunded.
