How To Build a Portfolio
Thursday 30 October 2014
11.00am – 1.30pm
at Camden Arts Centre
Insights offers young people (aged 17+) the chance to explore art school in more depth while they consider applying to Foundation or Degree courses in the Arts. The project brings together expertise from Camden Arts Centre and Central Saint Martins School of Art & Design to support young people in making informed decisions about their creative futures. This year’s focus is on building a high quality portfolio with guidance from artists, university tutors and students.
This session will show you how to build a portfolio for applying to foundation art and design courses.
Beginning with a talk by Oonagh O’Hagan (Curriculum Leader for Fashion and Textiles, on the Foundation Diploma at Central Saint Martins) you will find out what to include in your portfolio and top tips on what universities are looking for. There will be the opportunity to see examples of current students work and talk to them about their experience of studying within the arts, followed by some time for Q&A.
You will leave the session with the knowledge to create a strong portfolio for applying to study in the arts. It is recommended that participants attending this session book onto the portfolio surgeries in December and January as a follow up.
You do not need to bring your portfolio with you to this session but please bring a notebook and pen.
Insights is a collaborative project between Camden Arts Centre and Central Saint Martins School of Arts & Design.
