For our 60th anniversary, we are celebrating Camden Art Centre with a digital project exploring our rich history on Arkwright Road.
Over six weeks, we will take a look back at our activity from our early years in the 1960s to the present day, noting significant exhibitions, residencies, events and learning programmes. You might even hear from some familiar voices along the way.
For week two, we are looking back at January 1984 when we hosted ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four: An Exhibition’, showcasing work inspired by George Orwell’s infamous novel of the same name.
Artists featured in the exhibition included Paula Rego, Kevin Atherton, Conrad Atkinson, Ian Breakwell, Stuart Brisley, Antony Gormley, Jan Mladovsky, Deanna Petherbridge, John Stezaker and Jean-Luc Vilmouth.
