A Stranger Here Myself - Camden Art Centre

These two artists are individually renowned for their innovative and challenging approach to  materials and methods of making.

The galleries were ‘dressed’ using elements of photography, painting and sculpture to create a richly decorated environment. Jacqueline Poncelet works with the wall and floor surfaces, covering them with a skin of repeating, reverberating pattern. Laura Ford’s Chintz Girls, frozen in a moment of dancing pleasure, together with a menagerie of stitched and wool-clad animals, neither life-like nor toy-like, inhabited the spaces.

The exhibition toured to Wolsey Art Gallery, Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich: 5 June – 18 July 1999
