Andrea Fisher - Camden Art Centre

These works were full of apparent contradiction which set up a range of discourses.

They conflated the cool language of minimalism with intense physiological sensation; sleek barriers of clinical steel protected photographic images of war which are both seductive and repellent. The femininity of swathes of fabric draped over these barriers at once complimented the images and contrast with the male archetypes of authority, heroism and war, calling into question our notions of sexual difference. Recent work was joined by then new work that was made specifically for this space.
