Santa Monica based artist Jim Isermann has selected a body of recent works including soft sculpture, painted and woven works, all displayed against a dazzling new wallpaper design.
Every stitch and strand of the work is pulled into place by the artist himself. The results of this painstaking labour blur the boundaries between painting, sculpture and furniture, and between the concepts of ‘art’ and ‘craft’. The objects are intended to generate visual pleasure and to create an atmosphere in which we are stimulated by, rather than subjected to, abstract forms. Isermann exhibited at Robert Prime, London in 1997 and had work in Lovecraft at C.C.A. Glasgow and South London Gallery.
