Gallery III was transformed into a cinema, where screenings of Joáo Penalva’s 336 PEK (336 Rivers), 1998, took place at 11.15am, 12.30pm, 1.45pm, 3.15pm and 4.30pm daily.
This hour-long video with English subtitles, (the original text of the Russian narrative), evoked distant places (mysterious Lake Baikal and its 336 tributaries), childhood memories and folk tales. Memory, the construction of identity and the quest for a truth wereconstantly questioned in an unraveling narrative.
