Lois Weinberger - Camden Art Centre

Lois Weinberger uses the discarded materials of consumer society to make work that examines urban existence, ‘nature’ and cultural production.

Framed by the ‘psychoanalytic quarter’ of South Hampstead, his work mapped out an imaginative response to the urban fabric. At the Centre a video of a journey through a thistle patch played in the gallery. Outside, a map of an imagined place where urban and rural meet was painted onto the concrete base of a demolished building. The Freud Museum hosted drawn architectural floor plans annotated with botanical terms that create rich associations between image and text. Weinberger lives and works in Vienna. A survey of his work opened at the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wein, March 2000.
