Mat Collishaw uses aspects of film, photography and computer technology in his work to explore notions of reality and illusion, nature and artifice.
Mat Collishaw (b.1966) graduated from Goldsmiths’ College in 1989. His seductive computer-generated images of flowers with animal-skin markings, while celebrating the richness and textures of the natural world, also have a sinister presence, acknowledging the desire to control and manipulate nature and questioning the role of scientific progress. This exhibition of floor-based and wall-based pieces included work developed during Collishaw’s recent period as on-site artist at the Centre.
