Michael Marriott - Camden Art Centre

Designer Michael Marriott bought together a grouping of furniture and objects, drawn from collections across the world, including the design collection of Frac Nord Pas-de-Calais, to examine the possibilities of functionalism.

Michael Marriott trained at the Royal College of Art in London, graduating in 1993 and immediately began work as a furniture designer. He is one of a small group of designers working with the London-based furniture maker SCP, which produces many of his designs.

An internationally respected teacher of design, Marriott has curated Mies Meets Marx / MMM, an installation at the Geffrye Museum, London about the nature of the designing and making of things. He was awarded the Jerwood Prize for Furniture in 1999.
