Introduction to Ceramics, led by ceramic artist Alice Foxen, is a daylong course to explore, play and learn about clay, perfect as a first introduction to ceramics.
Students will make and take away with them a ceramic vase for their favourite blooms. Focusing on hand building techniques: pinching, coiling and slab building; and decorating techniques used slips and underglazes, students will gain basic knowledge of making simple objects with clay and the curiosity to learn more.
This course will cover:
- Introduction to ceramics practices and tools
- Introduction to hand building techniques: pinching, coiling and slab building
- Introduction to decorative techniques using slips and underglazes
Artwork and objects made during this course will be fired at the Camden Art Centre kiln, and can be taken home by students.
This course is suitable for those with little to no experience of ceramics. All materials costs are included. Size restrictions apply.
