10 week course: Landscape Painting - Camden Art Centre

Landscape Painting is a 10 week course led by artist Daisy Perkins. This course will cover the foundations of painting different landscapes.

During the course students will explore how to build a landscape, learning techniques such as mark making, perspective, colour and light use, and how these processes can be used to express different scenes and moods. 

The course will cover basic techniques from how to approach street scenes and interiors using perspective, how to create distance when painting skies and clouds and painting weather to create dramatic or calm scenes.

During the course, students will experiment with painting from imagination, explore techniques from other artists work as well as learn how to approach painting outside, covering practical considerations from how to decide what to paint to managing changing conditions and light.

This course will cover:

  • How to build a landscape and express different scenes
  • Using colour, mark making, perspective and light in landscape painting
  • Painting different types of landscapes from street scenes to interiors
  • Techniques for painting natural elements such as sky, weather conditions and light
  • Approaches to painting outside

 

This course is suitable for those with little to no experience of drawing/painting.

The Artist

Daisy Perkins is a traditionally trained representational artist, specialising in oil painting and charcoal. Daisy specialises in portraits, figures, landscapes and still life, her work aims to capture humanity and an appreciation of people, culture and landscape through painting.

Daisy began her training at Lavender Hill studios in 2011 and continued to study and teach at London Fine Art Studios until 2016. Daisy teaches traditional drawing and painting at Dulwich Art Group, Clockwork Courtyard and also delivers private classes.  From her studio in London, Daisy enjoys exploring the urban landscape of London, allowing her time to experiment with technique, style and light, while also connecting with other painters.

Adults’ courses are 18+ unless otherwise stated.

All materials costs are included. Size restrictions apply.

Evidence of concessionary status must be shown on the first day of the course.

For every season, each person can only book and attend one of the courses on a ‘pay what you can’ ticket.

Booking on a course at Camden Art Centre signifies your agreement to our terms and conditions as stated in our Learning Agreement.

Bookings are non-refundable, unless the course is cancelled by the Centre.

The course will only go ahead if the minimum participant requirement for the course to run is met. If the course does not go ahead, bookings will be refunded.
