Public Knowledge: Landscape Plus | Laida Lertxundi
To mark the launch of Landscape Plus, a monograph on the work of the Spanish-born, Los Angeles-based filmmaker Laida Lertxundi, PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE will present a programme of 16mm films, including Footnotes to a House of Love, 025 Sunset Red, and Vivir para Vivir / Live to Live, followed by a collective discussion between Erika Balsom, Alejandro Alonso Díaz and Lertxundi that traverses film-theory, feminism, and subjectivity, themes prevalent within her expanded practice.
Public Knowledge is a monthly platform devised to share knowledge of creative practices that navigate independent and expanded forms of publishing and distribution. Establishing a space for experimentation and discourse that reflects the relationship between publishing and the shifting strata of economic, technological, social and political scenarios present today. Empowering emerging or under-represented visual artists, musicians, poets and writers to introduce and discuss their respective outputs with new audiences. The programme will manifest in a variety of forms; incorporating live performances, listening sessions, and moving image, alongside group discussions.

Laida Lertxudi. Blending conceptual rigour with sensuous pleasure, the films of Los Angeles-based artist Laida Lertxundi are seductive and self-reflexive explorations of place. Her works are produced through a process she refers to as “landscape plus,” which marries observational photography with music, actions, and chance events. Lertxundi draws parallels between land and the body as sites of pleasure and experience.
