Wheel Throwing Weekend - Camden Art Centre

An introduction to making ceramics using a pottery wheel.

Whether you are a beginner, but have always wanted to try it out, or you have been learning for a while and want to make rapid progress, this is an opportunity to spend a quiet, focused long weekend (10:30am–5:30pm, Fri–Sun) developing your throwing skills at the potter’s wheel.

There will also be an optional glazing session held on Sunday, 21 June, 3-6pm, when you are very welcome to back and learn how to glaze your pieces with your teacher, at no extra cost. If you can’t make it, your work can be glazed for you.

Please note that this class covers throwing techniques only.

Turning Earth

Turning Earth pioneered the open-access ceramics membership model in the UK. Launching in 2013, they brought to London a model of community ceramics makerspace that had been developing in the US, and subsequently inspired many similar studios around the world. Since then, they have opened four studios: Hoxton, Leyton, Highgate, and In Production (a shared studio for more professional potters, next to their Leyton site). They run monthly memberships and weekly beginners and intermediate classes in each of their studios. In 2025 Turning Earth and Camden Art Centre initiated a partnership to run courses.
