Workshop: Embroidery - Camden Art Centre

Inspired by the work of Ethel (Trapper) Linklater and the works in 'akâmi-', this embroidery and beadwork workshop led by Coco Warner-Allen caters to teens and adults.

Participants will learn a variety of stitches and beading techniques using an embroidery hoop. This workshop is open to all skill levels.

The Artist

The Artist

Coco Warner-Allen is a multi-media artist based in London, whose practice combines fine art with craft. Her work explores feminist ideas such as The Male Gaze, the performativity of the feminine and how beauty and femininity are constructed through both contemporary visual culture and throughout the history of art. Textile is a primary medium in her practice, and she sees her classes as an extension of her desire for her work to encourage greater community connection. She has led embroidery workshops around London in a variety of spaces such as bars, university classrooms, workshop spaces, and art galleries.
