Poetry Night: Caspar Heinemann and Verity Spott

Wednesday 6 February, 6.30pm

For the first in this series of nights taking place in the Camden Arts Centre Café, poets Caspar Heinemann and Verity Spott present readings on occultism, the ecoTEC boiler system and Insect Repellent Toxicology. Readings will be followed by an open mic session.

Caspar Heinemann is a writer, artist, and poet. Their interests include critical occultism, gay biosemiotics, and countercultural mythologies. Recent events include a US tour and readings at the Baltic Triennial, CAC Vilnius, Basis voor Actuele Kunst, Utrecht, and KW, Berlin. They have exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, David Roberts Art Foundation, London, and Outpost Gallery, Norwich and been a guest tutor at Chelsea College of Arts, the University of Reading, the Sandberg Institute, Goldsmiths, and HEAD, Geneva. Their first book is forthcoming from The 87 Press. They were born in London, UK, roughly 2.5 months after the release of Green Day’s seminal album Dookie.

Verity Spott is a poet and performer based in Brighton. Verity's books include Gideon (Barque Press), We Will Bury You and Balconette (both from Veer Books), Click Away Close Door Say (Contraband Books) Trans* Manifestos (Shit Valley), Prayers / Manifestos / Bravery (Pilot Press) and most recently a selection of Sappho's Poems in translation (Face Press). Verity is a member of the free jazz trio In Threads and one sixth of Wolf Kid Theatre Company. Verity is currently poet in residence at the University of Surrey.
